Amy Runte is an award winning soprano vocalist. Amy has taught piano and violin for over two years and, after completing a vocal performance degree, in 2005, will begin teaching voice in the fall. She loves teaching voice, piano, and violin lessons, and enjoys helping students cultivate a love for music in their own lives.
Amy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Grand Canyon University with both a Bachelor of Arts, Applied Music – Vocal Performance degree and Bachelor of Arts, Theatre – Drama degree.
Amy has grown up in the Valley where she performed in the Phoenix Children’s Chorus for several years. She studied privately in all three instruments from a young age. Amy began performing vocally at the age of two with her mother.
In 2000, she received an Honorable Mention from the American Young Artists Competition as well as first place at the 1st Annual Herberger Arizona Young Artists Competition in the vocal area. She also won the Arizona National Association of Teachers of Singing competition in her categories in 2003 & 2004.
Amy has performed many noteworthy opera and operetta roles while attending Grand Canyon University, including Grettle in Hansel & Grettle, Liu in Turandot, Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Amalia Balash in She Loves Me, The Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and the Southwest Premier of Little Women as Amy March, plus many more musical, operatic and dramatic roles.
Amy is currently a part-time nanny for several families with young children. She is very involved in her church as a singer in the contemporary service, violinist in the church orchestra, and Assistant Drama Director. She also is available for solo singing at many venues such as weddings, funerals, and private parties.
