Voice Lessons $40/hour
Private voice lessons are sixty minutes in length and are conducted under the constant instruction of the teacher. During the lessons, the student will focus on theory, technique, sight singing, and repertoire. These students are required to perform in recitals with other students from the private studio and Music Appreciation class. Students should be no younger than high-school age though some exceptions may be made. An audition is required for placement in this voice studio.
Required Materials
These materials will be required at every lesson and will ensure success in both lesson and home practice times:
- 1” three-ring notebook (preferably black)
- Pencil (ink should never be used on music)
- Several sheets of blank paper to write notes on during lesson time
- Completed Practice Record signed by parent or guardian (provided by teacher)
- (Optional) Tape recorder to tape warm-ups for practice time and also to aid in notes from the lesson.
- Students are responsible for the purchase of repertoire materials. The teacher will provide a list of books and music to purchase at the first lesson and additional materials as the student progresses.
Music Appreciation Class
Music Appreciation Class $40/month* (Family rates available)
Music Appreciation Class is an hour in length, held weekly, and is structured to be similar to music classes offered in public schools during the day. Music classes will include introductions to singing, notation, rhythm, instruments, composers, musical eras, musical genres, and other aspects of the world of music, as well as an introduction into the world of drama. This class will also perform as a group at recitals with students from the private studio. A minimum of five students is required for each section of Music Appreciation.
